Santa María la Blanca

What was once the major synagogue of Toledo, today Santa María la Blanca is one of the icons of Toledo

C/ de los Reyes Católicos, 4

Its forest of white columns has been a symbol of Toledo's identity and the history of the Jewish community in the city for centuries.

Santa María la Blanca transports you to another era, a haven of peace in the noisy world we live in today. Visiting this building immerses you in the Sephardic culture of our city. It features a basilical structure with five naves supported by octagonal pillars, oriented from east to west. The central nave is higher than the others and separated by arcades with large circular horseshoe arches, indicating a certain Mozarabic Christian influence.

The exquisite preservation of the monument allows you to contemplate the building as conceived centuries ago.

The extensive garden surrounding the walls of the former synagogue provides a pause in the journey and the opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable experience.

In recent years, a revolutionary dynamic LED lighting system has allowed us to appreciate this gem as never before.
